Calgary the 3rd highest homicide rate in the country

first_imgCALGARY (660 NEWS) – Calgary’s homicide rate was the third highest of any major Canadian city in 2017 behind only Edmonton and Winnipeg.That’s in a new Statistics Canada report that credits the spike in the number of deaths to guns and gang violence.The City has a rate of 2.07 victims for every 100,000 people, that’s well above the national average of 1.8 victims.Last year’s national homicide rate was the highest level since 2009.You can read the full report here.last_img
