Sunderland target Borini still holding out for Liverpool chance, says Edwards

first_imgFabio Borini feels he could still have a future at Liverpool, according to Luke Edwards, the Daily Telegraph’s north-east correspondent. The Merseyside club accepted an offer in the region of £14million from Sunderland for the striker, after he enjoyed a successful loan spell at the Stadium of Light last season. The Black Cats are still waiting on an answer from the Italian as to whether he wants to make the move permanent.Edwards, speaking on The Sports Bar, said: “I think Borini is under this idea that if he stays at Liverpool then he will end up getting a chance.“With the [Loic] Remy deal collapsing, it has probably stiffened Borini’s resolve that if he sticks around he will get football and he is going to play.”Edwards, however, believes Borini could still join the Black Cats this summer, if Liverpool land another forward before the transfer window closes.“My personal view is Borini will end up coming,” he said. “As it gets closer to the window closing, particularly if Liverpool sign another forward, which they are trying to do, maybe Fabio will think he doesn’t really want to sit on the bench and play in the Capital One Cup.”last_img read more
