Application for mining licence to be made easier

first_imgMinister within the Ministry of Natural Resources, Simona Broomes and a team from the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC) on Tuesday met with miners in Bartica, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) to discuss issues affecting them.Minister within the Ministry of Natural Resources, Simona Broomes engaging miners in the GGMC Office at 7th Avenue, Bartica, Region 7Key among these was the challenges the miners face with regards to mining applications.According to the Department of Public Information (DPI), during the interaction, the Minister and a team also accepted mining applications. However, Minister Broomes explained that such an exercise will soon be a thing of the past as currently; GGMC is working on computerising the application process.“Miners usually have to travel to Georgetown for this process, however, we are trying to simplify it for them, decentralise using our office here,” Minister Broomes explained.She further explained that this online mining application service should be functional by mid-2019.The Natural Resources Ministers have been meeting key players in the mining sector to address some of their concerns. Sligo Rovers and Finn Harps clash rescheduled for October 3rd

first_imgThe League of Ireland Premier Division game between Sligo Rovers and Finn Harps has been rescheduled and will now take place at the Showgrounds on Monday the 3rd of October.Harps had submitted a very reasonable proposal, based on the club’s part-time set-up and player welfare considerations, requesting the FAI to push the fixture back further into next month.The Sligo match was abandoned after just 22 minutes on the 3rd of September due to a waterlogged pitch.
