Ireland’s boxing hopes now lie with Michael Conlon following Katie Taylor’s exit yesterday.Bray lightweight Taylor was beaten on a split decision by Finland’s Mira Potkonen in their quarter-final in Rio.Belfast bantamweight Conlon will be guaranteed at least a bronze medal if he beats Vladimir Nikitin of Russia in their quarter-final bout this afternoon.center_img In athletics, Ireland’s only field eventer, Tori Pena, competes in the pole vault qualifying from 1:45pm.Meanwhile, Thomas Barr goes in the men’s 400m hurdles semi-final in the early hours of tomorrow morning.last_img
