The hat ability in this mod appears to be more powerful than the one in Mario Odyssey. Sure, you can possess dinosaurs in the Switch game, but it’s doubtful you’ll be able to possess things in the environment. I could be wrong about that, but for now, it appears Mario can only take over living creatures in his next game. Also, I need to point out that possessed creatures and objects in this modded Mario 64 don’t grow Mario’s mustache like they do in Mario Odyssey. This isn’t a big deal, but it’s something that Kaze may want to consider adding in a future update.Mario Odyssey won’t be available until October 27, so this mod might be a good way to get a feel for the hat possession ability until then. You’ll, of course, need to have an emulated copy of Mario 64 to use it. We don’t exactly condone downloading emulated games, but we also know that some of you out there do partake in this practice. This is a brand-new ability that has never been seen in a Mario game before. But now, a modder named Kaze Emanuar has made it possible to use the hat ability in Super Mario 64.Kaze Emanuar created this mod just a few days after the latest Mario Odyssey trailer was shown during E3. He has since refined the mod so that Mario can possess any object in the game world. In the video below, Mario takes possession of enemies, power-up blocks, environmental objects, and more. This is the very definition of breaking a game, but it’s so freakin’ sweet.
