Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera left for Geneva on Friday night and he will make a statement at the Council on the opening day tomorrow.  (Colombo Gazette) The report contains recommendations made by OHCHR to the Government to deal with the alleged war crimes said to have taken place during the final stages of the war. President Maithripala Sisrisena has received the war crimes report compiled by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) based on the investigations conducted on the war by a team appointed by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein, sources at the President’s office said.The report was handed over to the Government on Friday through the Foreign Ministry and then to the President. The report will be made public and will also be formally released to the UN Human Rights Council on September 30 by Al Hussein during its 30th session which begins tomorrow.
